Every time I plug into a Marina's 30A shore power and activate "on" at dock power post- the red "fault" light is activated on "North Shore Saftey, Ltd." Test/Reset Panel (4'X4" white/black panel below main AC circuit board). I must press the "reset" button (goes green) to "power" the AC power board. This is not a problem unless power is lost to the dock power post and frig /charger et al are no longer powered, until I press reset button on the North Shore panel.
Is this normal to have to activate the reset button every time after plugging into shore power?
This was not much of a problem this summer season (boat has factory installed solar panel), but might become more of an issue this winter when I am hauled and on the hard. The boat yard typically plugs/unplugs me into shore power once a week to charge my batteries and I assume the rest button will have to be activated each time they plug back in.

Hello Nick,

This panel you are referring too is normal to have to be reset after you connect each time to shore power, as this breaker will act like a GFCI outlet to protect your 110v panel. The manufacture of this breakers change to this ones and that's why we started to installed this type for a couple of years.

thanks,

Thanks... for info and quick response.

I always have that switch off when connecting /d is connecting, so I’ve not experienced the symptom you describe.

Curious as to why you have the yard disconnect/connect the charger? It will maintain your batteries well when continuously powered.

Agree with Cruising. The shore power panel switch should always in the off position before disconnecting or reconnecting to shore power. I’ve never had an issue with the fault light coming on.

I am pretty sure that when my boat is at slip, both the shore power post is in off position and boat panel switch is off before I connect/disconnect. When I switch the shore power post to on position, the red fault light is activated and I need to press reset to get power to the board. I will have to confirm next season.... For winter when boat is on the hard (and because the yard does not have sufficient number to power feed more than 1 day per week)--- I believe they need to hit this reset button boat every time they plug in. Luckily boat is equipped with solar panel that keeps them at 12.7v ( and as suggested by this forum),I have also removed all (7.5A)3 bilge pump fuses and co2 monitor fuses to any eliminate power draw.

Did you ever figure out the fault problem? I'm having the same issue.
Dave

Dave... per previous response from IvanGuzman on Wed Oct 27, 2021 11:40 am---this is normal for later model 2019 R23- see below
