Ac not priming

Very frustrated with AC unit on 2014 CW30. The pump cycles on and try’s to pull in seawater for maybe 5 seconds. Most time it fails. I try to “burp” The main strainer and the one going to the pump. Most times with no luck. What am I doing wrong? Why two strainers?

I’m not sure if this will help your issue but this is what I had to do to finally fix my priming issue. My AC water pump, probably like yours, is NOT self priming so any air in the line causes the unit to shut down. I installed an inline“T” with a male fitting just distal to the raw water intake( see pictures). When we go out and want to use the AC and the pump will not prime all I have to do is connect a short hose, which I keep on board, to the “T” and pour water into the line. This purges the air from the line and the AC does its thing.
