I'm playing with my New (2017) R31 CB and trying to figure out some of the electrical panel stuff.

I understand that even when everything is off, the solar panel is still creating juice (thank you, earlier post responses). As well, bilge pumps will activate, via float switch.

What I don't understand is that even when all switches from batteries are off, my Fusion Radio, as well as the curtesy lights will still operate. Is there something that is not wired correctly? Why would these two function, even when all power is turned off from batteries. BTW, this is when the boat is on the hard, with no shore power attached.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bobby

Bobby,
There are no switches on the panel for those two items, and mine (2013 RT 31 CB) works the same way. Do they work when your house battery barrel switch is off? I haven't tried that.

BTW, congrats on your delivery!

Brad

Thanks and yes, they work when the house barrel battery switch is "off"!

Some things are wired to remain operational even when the boat is "dead." Solar panel, bilge pumps and courtesy lights I understand; perhaps the radio is constantly powered to prevent memory loss of the channels folks set?

i understand on many of the boats that the radio also provides power to the NMEA network and hence is powred as soon as the breaker is turned on.

On my 27ob there one fuse panel that is connected directly to the battery.

Also, I've noticed a lot of wires connected to the positive battery terminal, so there must be several things that bypass both the disconnect switch and the 24/7 fuse panel.
