Hi,

In the course of chasing down a reverse polarity issue, thankfully resolved, I came across what could be another gremlin. On my CW28 I have what I think are the usual arrangement of two Blue Sea 7610 ACRs in the engine battery lazaret. Everything seems to work fine.

Here are the green status lights:
main.php

But what I don't understand is the black wire coming off post B. It's a black wire that has a fuse holder. Fuse holder is empty, lugs are broken. If it's really supposed to be there, I'll have to replace the holder. I have no idea what the fuse value should be.

main.php

I do seem to have a connection to ground (yellow wire) which seems to jive with what Blue Sea shows on their web site. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks in advance,

martin

Use the g2Img tag. That will allow the thumbnail to launch the image in your album.

Cheers,

Bruce

Thanks Bruce. I had forgotten about that. This should view better.

Here's the ACR with cover off and mysterious black wire:

I haven't heard back from Kevin. Maybe someone else has seen it.

Looks like something someone added aftermarket. The factory labels all the wires and uses blade fuses everywhere. The only way to find out what it is for is to follow the wire to see where it leads. The ACR is just a convenient place to make a connection to battery power. The wire has nothing to do with the ACR.

That make sense, thanks Red Raven. I would never have connected to the ACR myself, but I could see where someone would consider that expedient. I'll tone out the wire and see what it does. Probably nothing, but I don't want it being unaccounted for.

The factory connected the house and engine batteries to the positive Sunsaver Duo (solar panel controller) battery terminals as shown in the photos. I say batteries in that the two large red cables on the ACR terminals go to the positive house and engine terminls (at least they do on my R27).

In addition to picking a lazy spot to grab power, whoever added the wire must have been an electrician who normally works with AC. Used a black cable for hot lead :? At least they did use an in-line fuse. 🙂
