Active Captain sent out an email today announcing that an app named PolarView released by Polar Navy with full Active Captain info is available for iPhone and iPad. I've downloaded the app and I'm currently trying it out and at first blush it looks like it's well worth the $4. I've attached the info from my email for anyone that wants to take a look.

Polar Navy announced this week that PolarView MX has been released for
iPhone/iPads with full ActiveCaptain support. Many of you know PolarView
for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux (also with ActiveCaptain support). Now
you can use their product on iOS too.

The $3.99 product has a fantastic price for the capabilities. It supports
all US NOAA raster and vector charts. It quilts them together to provide
a seamless display with course up rotation.

PolarView MX uses NOAA's native chart files so the latest charts can
always be downloaded. And with both raster and vector support, you can
use whatever chart type you'd like.

All charts and ActiveCaptain data are kept offline and available away
from an internet connection. ActiveCaptain synchronization is provided
when you have an internet connection so you can always have the most up-
to-date data any time you have a connection.

For only $4, how can you not have this product as a backup on your iPhone
and iPad?

Hi Jim -
I downloaded it yesterday and it's really quite good. Great backup to charts and location when something else fails. I'd like to hear how other folks like it.
