Just ordered the Rose Point Coastal Explorer through Jeff and Karen... Now I am like a kid at Christmas - can't wait...
Per Jeff's advice I also ordered a GPS puck from Amazon - Global Sat BU353. Now I have back up for the Garmin 4212...

The impetus for this was last year we were chugging our way out of Boca Grande on a hazy day when the Garmin MFD went toes up... Had to chug back to BG and buy a paper chart to find our way across Charlotte harbor - actually it was a plastic encapsulated restaurant place mat! I thought it should have come with fries, at least... Also spent nearly two hours on the phone with Garmin trying to 'fix' the 4212...
The other impetus was planning this trip today: I had used Google Earth on the computer in the work shop to find Moss Marina, then climbed into the boat and panned the Garmin from Michigan to Estero Island to look at the channels, markers, and the depths, and then back to the shop computer to pull up a map of Florida and look at the roads going to the nearest boat ramps...
At this time I also saw a couple of posts about Active Captain so I idly went there... Brought up the Active Captain online, clicked the map to hybrid, entered Moss Marina in the search box, and SHAZAAM everything I had been wandering back and forth between boat and shop to sequentially look up, was right there in the screen... Well DUH....
Yes, momma raised a couple of slow children, but no stupid ones - I placed the order... Why I can feel my IQ rising as I type this....
