ActiveCaptain User Data Error

When I try to transfer a route from my iPhone to my Garmin GPSMap 7616XSV I receive an error on the Garmin “Error encountered: User data sharing is disabled”.

This problem just started a couple of weeks ago. Priory to this I was able to transfer routes with out issue. The instructions on the Garmin are to erase the user data and restart the system which I have done numerous times without success.

I routinely clear all my user data both in ActiveCaptain and on my Garmin to prevent countless waypoints from clogging the system and maps.

I have spoken to Garmin support twice and they could not answer what the problem might be.

One thought is there is a problem with ActiveCaptain on my iphone. I deleted and reloaded the app on both my iPhone and iPad. Software on both is 33.0.838 , which as far as I can tell is the latest version. Looking at the app revision history this rev was release a couple of weeks ago so there is a chance this latest version is the problem.

My work around is to transfer routes via the Sd card which is not as efficient but does work.

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Any ideas on fishing this is greatly appreciate.

Don't know which model of iPhone you have, but Garmin has had recent issues with the active captain on phones which have/use 5G. Turning off the mobile network and only enabling the Wi-Fi to connect with the plotter was the work around I was given from Garmin. That or use a secondary device like an iPad to work as an intermediary.

This seemed to work, thank you very much. Two calls to Garmin didn’t get me this info so I really appreciate the help.

I had tried also with my iPad but this didn’t seem to work but not sore of the sequence.

My problem seems to be back after a two month break.

User Data error when I try to transfer data from Active Captain to Garmin using synch function.

Any ideas on how to fix this persistent problem is greatly appreciated.
