I have a Ranger Tug 43 that is in the mid-Chesapeake Bay area. Marine growth on the hull, running gear and sea water intake systems for the A/C, head/ generator and the salt-water is a serious problem.

I am interested in options for treatment of the A/C, generator and head systems. Has anyone had any experience installing/using a product like ElectroSea in a Ranger Tug to reduce the contamination of the systems that are on the sea-water side of the boat systems.

Are you sure your boat is plumbed to use salt water for the head? My R-31 uses fresh water, so I figured a larger boat with more fresh water capacity would be doing the same - less smells, too. Chlorine can adversely affect rubber seals in plumbing systems. I know dbsea added a chlorine system to his C30, but it also required changing the seals on his toilet so the chlorine wouldn't immediately eat the seals.

Just something to think about if you do plan on installing a chlorination system.

If you don't leave the A/C running when you're off the boat, a fresh-water flush system might work for you to handle the rest of your intake system, as you can flush and then close your sea-cock.
