Could a person run their Ranger R27 from Marquette, MI to Homer, AK via Soo locks, up the St. Lawrence, down the East Coast, around Florida, the Gulf Coast, to the Panama Canal, and turn north to Alaska?

Realistic, crazy, too dangerous, no problem with good planning, been done plenty of times, easier to just trailer my boat from Marquette, MI to Seattle . . . ?

Don't even have my boat yet, but just curious🙂

Let me know!

I'd suggest you start out with some local cruising for a while. 😉 The Rangers are great boats, but you are talking about a LOT of open water cruising, especially up the west coast... wouldn't be my choice, but we all have different levels of adventure and endurance. A trailer pulled behind a capable truck will REALLY open up your options and allow you to enjoy the best places without that "bash" up the west coast.

Check out the Great Loop - the Rangers are perfect boats for that adventure. Trailer to the Pacific Northwest and cruise from Puget Sound to Alaska.

Good luck with your search.

The one unique thing about the boats is that they can be towed. They are not meant for open water long cruising. Anything can be done, but I would stick to towing it across to the west coast and take a luxury cruise through the Panama Canal on Holland America. 😀

Marquette to Duluth/Superior. I-35/I-90 to Seattle. Turn right. Enjoy.

I have made the trip from Alabama to Alaska, via the Panama Canal, on a boat. You could. The boat I was on was much larger and we went straight from Oregon to Kodiak, but you could do the trip in an R27 if you took your time and waited out bad weather. Bring extra fuel filters for the central American diesel. 🙂
It took us 42 days from Alabama to Oregon, and another 8 to Kodiak, but that was on a 107 foot crab boat, doing 8 knots nearly 24 hours a day.

Not possible. There are not enough fuel stops close enough on the western coasts.
