The air conditioner on my 2010 R-25 is neither heating nor cooling. The error readout shows HFP-1 - and the book says this is either the lack of cooling water or the lack of air flow.

The cooling water is flowing vigorously - ever since I changed out the small OEM pump protector for a larger size similar to that used on the newer Rangers.

The fan is unobstructed, blowing like a wind tunnel as it always does.

I hear the compressor kick on and run - when I shut it down, the compressor is hot as are the inlet and outlet freon lines.

I called the manufacturer, they said with high freon pressure, the compressor won't run - but it starts and runs just fine.

Any ideas what I do until the technician shows up? Thanks for the thoughts.

Hum, I seem to remember that you had a cooling issue and added freon. Could you have added too much?

This is the Shearwater's first cooling issue. There seems to be no valve to add freon.

I did not add freon - it was working perfectly!!! until it stopped working. Cooling during the hot sun and some very little heating at night. Went back to cooling in the day and just stopped - it got to 101 degrees. Compressor, fan, and water working nominally, but no cold air.

It does behave like excessive freon.

Stuart, on our MY '09 classic the valves are located on top of the copper plumbing accessed by removing the passenger station seat which is on hinges. Under the seat we have an access cutout to the complete ac unit.

Different post I guess.

Try this:
1. High-pressure switch is open (in cooling) due to improper seawater flow. Strainer or intake may be plugged, seacock may be closed. Check seawater hose for kinks or collapses. Verify pump operation; check pump circuit breaker if applicable.

2. High-pressure switch open (in heating) due to improper airflow. Remove obstructions in return air stream. Clean air filter and grille. Check for crushed or restricted ducting. Ducting must be as straight, smooth and taut as possible.
If problem persists, reprogram Low Fan Speed Limit for maximum value. Set P-3 to 64, and set the reverse fan speeds during Heating Mode parameter P-13 to “rEF", or manually set fan speed to high.

This sounds like either a water flow issue or an obstruction in on either the out going ducts or the return air duct is covered. Check the pump to make sure there is good flow to the unit. make sure the return air duct is not blocked and there is good airflow coming out

Thanks
Please feel free to call me if you have any question

The water is flowing as it does in a man after prostate reaming - lots of smooth vigorous flow.

The fan is operating at high speed and there are no obstructions.

I read the book, checked what it says to check, and then posted.

Curious.

Did you try this?

Did that. Problem still. Here

Turns out, according to the $95/hour expert, the compressor has an internal valve that is broken. Replacing the compressor is about as costly as replacing the unit - so, for a mear $3,000, the Shearwater will have a/c and heat by the time you read this.

Thanks for all your help - made me feel that at least I wasn't wasting the $3k.
