Hi all,
We have a 2018 R-23 that has webasto heater but no A/C. Has anyone added a portable unit (dont want factory retrofit, too pricey and will never get back on future resale). Have looked at EcoWave 2 and ZeroBreeze. Anyone have any experience. Taking boat to Florida this winter and from past experience, know we need a/c. Thanks all. Appreciate your advice!

For use on the east coast we removed the cockpit window and installed a small window A/C in the hole. We could only use the A/C when plugged into shore power but that was good enough for our summer cruising. The A/C only cost a bit over $200 at Walmart and did an excellent job of keeping the boat cool. We have white shades in all the overhead hatches to keep the sun out of the interior, reducing the heat load on the cabin. We did not need the A/C while moving on the water.

I bought this unit from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BP1XMXMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It comes with a window adapter that I cut down to fit the port side window by the front seat in our R25ob. It sits on the floor in front of that seat and didn't impact sitting at the table. It worked great for us since it is a small area to cool and it wasn't a huge investment. I ended up building a flat step for it to sit on to make it easier to manage. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
