I’ve had what I’m assuming is my AIS chiming 3 times at intermittent intervals lately. I have the alert set at “always off”. Has anyone else had this issue? Even with my boat on the lift, I’m getting the chimes with the Garmins off. I have a 2020 R29S, 2 Garmin 8612xsv‘s, and an AIS 300 T/R.

Help…ugh!!!

Thanks

You mention AIS 300 T/R. If the R stands for Receive I don't believe AIS 300 receives.... but my knowledge maybe rusty about this.

I have AIS 800 on my 2019 R29 CB and it certainly transmit and receives, and yes, I turn off the AIS Alarm almost immediately after I power on my two Garmin chart plotters.

If the issue persists give RT a a call for advice.

This is probably not it but look under alarms and settings for various alarms. I had a chirp that I kept hearing. Could not figure it out. At a rendezvous the garmin representative checked it out. Turns out it was the fish finder. Apparently lots of fish under the boat that never took the bait.

Actually....I believe I do have the AIS 800. I went thru all the alarms tonight...fuel alarm was set on one garmin at 75 gallons and I had 61....so I adjusted it to a lower setting and thought that fixed it....but later the alarm returned. I’ll check the fish finder in the am....

Thanks!!!

Are you getting any messages associated with chimes? As soon as I power off GPS units, I'll get cadenced AIS alerts on VHF letting me know there is no longer any GPS. It can be annoying if I want to monitor radio traffic while sitting in the harbor. Since we have networked systems, the VHF has to know your position in case you initiate a distress call. In that case, your coordinates, and MMSI if set up, will be sent while opening the emergency radio channel.

No alarms today!!! Hopefully it was just fuel alarm. For some reason I thought it was the AIS...thanks guys!!!

Great. Hope it is solved. If you are ever up this way give us a shout.
