Any Nuts with cruise experience(s) in Prince William Sound, Alaska?

Only kayaking experience, but taking my Ranger Tug to PWS is on my To Do list.

I lived in Anchorage for six years and fished PWS a few times. Talked with someone recently who took their boat from Homer, on the southwest corner of the Kenai Peninsula, all the way south and east around the peninsula and into Seward in PWS. That would be quite a trip.

When I make the trip in the Red Ranger I plan to spend a cupla weeks in Kachemak Bay next to Homer and then drive to Seward or Whittier for another cupla weeks of playing in PWS. I will want to time it right so I can do both crabbing and salmon fishing the PWS waters.

Our common dream is intriguing. Don't even have the boat. But that is on my list this year when I find a 25SC that suits. I spend the summers in Alaska anyway and will enjoy the Sound vs the Kenai River and Kachemak Bay. Tell me what you know about crabbing for Dungeness.

2014 will find Destiny cruising to Alaska for the summer. She will be in the company of two other vessels. We will depart on Memorial Day weekend returning Labor Day weekend. We will be doing it in stages flying back and forth between Alaska and the lower 48. Our anticipated total time for three months will be 45 days. (That work thing continues to get in the way!)

This summer we plan to take the Alaskan State Ferry from Bellingham to Juneau to give us a true visual of some of he waters we will deal with along the way. We have already started pooring over the cruising guides as well as charts. A trip such as this requires a tremendous amount of planning.
