Apparently the Yamaha 300 produces 70 amps. Can anyone confirm the outboard on a 27R charges the house batteries, and if so - how? There are apparently two battery combiners - does one combine starting to house battery (pair), and the second combine to genset/thruster battery?

I have apparently had a dead genset/house battery after dry storage - perhaps due to parasitic draw from the gasoline genset? I am told the Bluesea combiner drops out at 10.8V, so if you fall below, you'll likely never be able to charge. As an aside, my dry storage is with both batteries disconnects OFF, so it's surprising the genset/house would fall so low.

Hello Gregg,

Yes, the Yamaha does charge the house and thruster batteries while running through the ACR's. If the voltage is below 10.8 volts then you should turn the parallel on to jump start the house battery. You will still be able to charge the house just need to get the voltage above 10.8 volts. Also, there are hot wired devices on the house side which is why the voltage dipped during storage. We recommend pulling all hot wired fuses before storing the boat.

Thanks Kenny,

Looks like the ACR's do combine the starting into the house pair.

The batt giving me dry storage trouble is the thruster/genset - there appears to be no parallel for this one if it falls below 10.8V. I've used a lot of Yandina combiners that don't have a lower threshold I might add. But of course deep discharge is harmful to the batteries anyway. Last time I stored, I turned the genset switch off on its control panel and made sure the thruster was off. I'd have to study the schematic to see what other hot wires exist on that batt.

If you don't mind, I should have reverse cycle heat, but am pretty sure I am getting no heat. I've set the remote on heat of course, but don't feel it. Any trick to getting reverse cycle to run?

Gregg
