I recenty purchased a R 21 EC which at is my second home in another state. I would like to purchase on line. What is the recommend size for a R21 EC flag transom mounted? Also, where can I purchase a Ranger tug flag?

One inch per length of boat!

On the vertical edge....also called "the hoist"

Hi
I just posted a private message to you, regarding flags, I make custom burgees for Ranger Tug and Cutwater boats, that can either go on the bow of the boat, or on the mast. I gave you my email if you have any questions, and you can also search Burgees and updated burgees, I have pictures on our album.

Standard flag sizes per length of boat as follows.
Vessel length Flag
14 - 18 12 x 24
18 - 24 16 x 24
24 - 30 20 x 30
30 - 36 24 x 36
over 36 30 x 48

Contact Ranger Tugs (Jeff, Andrew or Kenny) for your new Ranger Tug flag. I find ours wears out every 4 years and needs to be replaced. Jeff sent me a new one recently. 🙂

Rick,

You are absolutely correct....one inch of "fly" per foot of boat is correct. My apologies for the error. I kinda wonder how they do that for an aircraft carrier.....would be a pretty large flag.....

In the Navy, aboard ship, the size of the flag depends upon the size of the ship and the day of the week. For example, the flag used on an aircraft carrier Monday thru Saturday would be 5' 0" x 9' 6". The flag flown on Sunday on an aircraft Carrier, called the Sunday Flag, would be huge at 8' 11 3/8" x 17' 0". Interesting. I recall hearing that on the USS Arizona, that the Sunday Flag had just been posted when the attack occurred. Thanks for the tidbit.
