Anchor locker classic 27 -LEAKS

It was all going so well - first time pulling chain and rode - filthy inside - pulled the hole twisted mess out and cleaned all of it - fill anchor locker with water Filled it completely -

Guess what? Right seems water escaped out and found a way out behind the front bow access panel - got all the bedding at forpeak sopping

In the boat now 10 at night waiting for the wash to finish - it’s a boat you know….

Anyone experience this - I have a suspicion that the locker is not sealed off completely - it was not a little drip

Check the drain tube. It may have disconnected from the outlet.

My goodness, man, I’m a thousand miles from you, but it seems my karma has reached you. This sounds like something that would happen to me.

Anyway, knotflying, as usual, has likely pinpointed the problem. The only bit of information I can add is that it’s possible that since you were able to fill the anchor locker with water, the drain tube may be clogged and not disconnected. By filling the locker with water, it may have overflowed into the cuddy. You may consider running a stiff, but flexible, piece of wire down the drain hole. Mud dauber wasps may have been in there or mud and sand from the anchor rode may have collected and hardened.

To check the drain tube connection, access to the drain tube is gained by taking down the port side headliner panel that runs from the forward center of cuddy around to the cuddy aft bulkhead. It’s been a couple years since I took down that piece, but I’m fairly sure the drain tube is accessed that way on my 2012 R27. If anyone reading this has information to the contrary, please correct my error.

Thank you for the wisdom -but I got to know - why a drain tube at the top of the locker???

Even with the itsy bitsy teeny weeny locker drain clear - it takes forever to drain!!

If it is taking forever to drain, I think you have a partially clogged drain line. I was careful to keep our anchor locker clean and found it sufficient to drain regardless of the rain or blue water that came over the bow on our R25.

Regarding the drain - I ran a fish thru it and it’s clear - it’s drains but the hole is small - in my mind it’s should be 1/2 inch!! It also has a splash shield on the outside so that will slow the discharge ..

Did you check the hose connection to the outlet to make sure it was not leaking and clear? It should drain fairly well. If it were me, I would check starting from inside the v-berth by removing the front panel and physically checking the fitting at the thru-hull and that the tube is cleared for the entire diameter. I thought it was a 1/2' hose.

Best advise is do not fill up locker ..: it’s not watertight - and keep drain hole clear
