Retrieving the anchor on our Cutwater seems to be a daunting task during our initial cruises with my hands getting much closer to the windlass than I would like. Has anyone used the ring-style anchor retrieval system with the buoy? Any tips would be appreciated - thanks - Bill

We have retrieved our anchor with a ring and buoy. We found the windlass was not designed to pick up the anchor by itself. Learning to use the ring and buoy takes a little practice. The variables include the speed of the boat to pull the anchor through your ring and the angle you point your boat from the anchor. Recommendations are 5 knots at 30 degrees. And be careful not to run over your anchor line. There are several good books and websites with directions, so after reading, time to practice so you are ready when you need it.
