Anchoring The R21

Ahoy Mates
Has anyone ever lowered the anchor from the wheelhouse with out a windless rather then walk out to it ?
I remember years back up North on Long Island sound this fellow had a R21 and lowered the anchor without leaving the wheelhouse. I met up with him about a week later and he explained to me how it was done but that was years ago and I forgot. I now own a R21 and find it difficult to walk up to the bow due to a bad leg and narrow walkway. Any information or ideas would be appreciated.

We generally pop up thru the foredeck hatch and lower the anchor while standing in the hatch. Depending on how deep the anchor is set, we also retrieve the anchor from that position. If the anchor is really buried, we sometimes need to travel to the foredeck to apply enough pulling horsepower. We also use the weight of the boat to assist in breaking out the anchor when needed.
