Curious little fingers started the air conditioner running with the boat up on the trailer... By the time I heard giggling and walked to the boat, then heard a fan running and vaulted into the cabin the compressor had shut down from going over temperature limit on the freon... I am assuming that the overtemp limit saved the compressor, but I suspect the cooling water impeller is toast... Now if I only knew where that was I would inspect it... Any suggestions? FMLT2510F809

denny-o,

Don't forget to deduct the cost of parts and the value of any time you spend effecting repairs on the system, plus interest, from the college funds of those responsible. 😀 I'm just saying.... 😉

A/C pumps can usually run dry for a period of time without without damage. I believe we might even have a centrifugal pump, which means it can run dry without a problem (like a centrifugal bilge pump). We have had this happen a couple of times on our a/c pump with no issue.

That is correct. The ac pump is a centrifigal and does not have an impeller. Shouldn't have caused any issues. Thanks!
