It is that time of year and I am going to winterize this weekend. As part of the process I thought I would change the antifreeze in my Volvo D-3 now that I have two seasons on the engine. I have the specified Volvo pre-mix antifreeze. My question for all you experienced folks is what is the best way to get out the old antifreeze (I have read that if I just change half every year that is probably sufficient (we typically only put 60 to 75 hours per year on the engine).) I believe the drain is on the bottom forward side of the heat exchanger - a screw in type fitting with hose barbs on it. Am I right that if I just unscrew it some the old antifreeze will come out and I can just put a hose on and pump it into a container for disposal? New antifreeze would just get poured into the reservoir on the upper front side of the engine, correct? (If this is too basic of a question I apologize in advance. I have had lots of Mercruiser products but never had a Volvo with closed water cooling system before so this is new to me and I don't want the do things incorrectly.)
