Waiting for my sea trail, and was wondering if any boats are ready or close to ready for new customer sea trials?

I visited the Cutwater factory 2 weeks ago to get a look at this interesting boat. They have built 4 which were going to boats shows so only able to see couple in process, even unfinished they looked awesome. It is easy to see these boats have had alot of thought put into them. Am hoping our good friends at Cutwater will be posting some clear photos until we get our chance to take a ride. Mark the sales manager says there will be an open house sometime in April with both Rangers and Cutwaters hoping I can make it. Should be very interesting. I was very close to buying a Ranger but must wait to look at the Cutwater have strong feeling I will be changing my mind.

It looks like the Cutwater will be on display at the Miami Boat Show which opened today and goes until the 21st. Then they will be at the Bay Boat Show, across the bridge from Annapolis April 28-May 1. I was kind of hoping to see them at the Baltimore Boat Show last month, but they did not make it.

We bought (pending sea trial) a 28 at the Seattle Boat Show. Just getting antsy to see if they're as good in the water as they seem to be on land.... The ST was supposed to be in February, but with almost 2/3 of the month gone and no word I'm guessing things are delayed. Haven't pushed Cutwater directly for an update...I'm sure the Ranger/Cutwater team are are pretty busy right now. When my time comes I'll post the results. 😀

Hello and Thank You for your interest in Cutwater! The team is down here at the Miami Boat Show for another introduction of Cutwater Boats.

The sea trials are set for March 12-13 as of today in Seattle and a similar time for Ft lauderdale.

We are very humbled by the response and sales so far! Mark Mansfield

Hoping for pictures and opinions from the weekend trials?

We did a sea trial on the 28 yesterday in Everett. Very nice stable comfortable ride in 1-2 foot chop.

For an 8.5' beam, the boat is extremely stable at rest.

Our 2005 260 Searay is pretty tippy when you move around the boat at rest...not the case here at all. Especially impressive since the Ray's dry weight is 7500 pounds and the dry weight of the 28 is 6400 pounds.

We were already sold on the boat, pending it's performance on the water. Looks like we're going to own a 28.

The test boat was the Seattle boat show model, hull #1 I believe. We're promised our boat will have the fit and finish glitches worked out by the anticipated May delivery. Even as #1 presents, it's a darn nice boat.

Hopefully this link will take you to some pics:

Hi
When you did the sea trial, were you able to get a feel for performance capabilities, top speed, optimum cruising speed(for fuel burn)What was the top speed that you or the sales rep brought her up to and how did she feel at that speed and resulting noise levels in cabin area, not asking for decibal numbers just were you able to talk normally. I am sure all this info will be available soon but it looks like you were one of the lucky first ones aboard, so you will likely get lots of questions.

We didn't run the boat hard, and topped out at about 20 kts. We settled in around 16kts and I believe we were burning 8 GPH. Don't quote me on that; I had a lot to divide my attention!

All the dispacement boats I've been in have been run slow. All my boats have been planing hulls. Therefore, I'm not the best one to ask ride and noise questions to, and this was the first semi displacement boat I've run at speed. But the ride was solid and we could talk without any effort over the engine noise....when I'd normally been raising my voice at similar speed in my searay with the canvas up.

There was some water-slap noise from under the bow at speed. I'm told they're injecting addtional foam in the stringers to tone it down.
