Hi all,

Our Tugnuts Photo Contest is back for April! If you're not familiar with the contest, we're giving away a pair of Ranger Tugs and Cutwater Boats Jackets. All you need to do to enter is, send us a photo and description or story corresponding to this month's theme.

The theme for April is: Feels Like Home. How do you make your boat feel like a home away from home? What sort of comforts do you bring along when you're out on the water? Is it a must have galley accessory, a favorite blanket, that Yeti tumbler you never leave home without, or something else?

To enter, please send your photo and description to briandickhaut@rangertugs.com

The contest is open until 11:59 AM PDT, Friday 4-30-2021.

Thank you!

From Bob A.

"When my son and grandson are along on fishing trips in Prince William Sound, my grandson always brings along a ‘Super Hero’ to help with the fishing duties. When the Super Hero isn’t busy fishing, it helps entertain my grandson up in the kids paradise of the V birth!"

From Andre B:

"'My kingdom for a quiet place to read a book.' My dad is 90 this year. He loves adventure, getting on the water, and reading his newest favourite book. I took him to Jaques-Jarvis lagoon on the Wild West Vancouver Island for a few nights. He loves the boat and the coats."

From Jennifer C.

"This was our first time on and crossing the Salish Sea on our new to us Ranger 29 2010 Classic.

We didn't have a working dinghy engine or a flushing toilet or house batters with a charge & heat and more but we made sure our 2 year old Marley had her blanket. Even if she's just stepping on it it was with her for the weekend.

PS she loves the boat. We have to go eat dinner on it at least once a week. Even if my husband's tools are all strung about. Still working on that toilet 🙂

Pic was taken April 10th. Nanaimo to Vancouver ( Newcastle Island in view )"

From David S.

"My boat feels like home when my wife joins me. I do a lot of solo trips fishing, so it feels like home when we do a trip together. P.S. She says I snore louder on the boat!"

From Stefan P.

"Every time we set sail, for a day or for weeks on end, our little fury friends comes along, she's family and reminds of how fortunate that we joined the RT community.

This picture was taken while alongside the Royal Victoria Yacht Club (Oak Bay, BC) on Saturday, April 24th 2021. First cruise of the season after being on the hard for two weeks for Spring maintenance."

From Gini L.

"We take extended cruises with a group of boating friends. What we all bring along to make our cruises feel like home are pop-up canopies, dock chairs, a propane fired “camp fire pit” and things for entertainment, like our favorite tunes and ukuleles. We transform the dock into a large, comfortable living and dining room for lots of socializing with friends, while our boats serve as the prep kitchens and sleeping quarters. Home away from home for sure!"

(One final entry came in just before the deadline!)

From Jeff B.

"Fresh baked bread and flowers.

For twenty years of adventure traveling Ken has always been able to bake fresh breads and treats when away from home.
On motorcycle trips and tent camping…it would be a cast iron dutch oven.
For many years of RV motorhoming…he would either bake in the oven or a bread maker.
Rarely do we have store bought bread or breakfast treats at home or while traveling.

This past year we have looked at several used Ranger Tugs. We were shocked that on many, the oven appeared to have not been used.
When we set out for our Des Moines delivery two weeks ago. Ken (a CIA Culinary Institute of America grad) packed several loaves of his famous English Muffin Loaf Bread. We had them to enjoy and to share.

Sadly 4 days into our new boat adventure we lost the “boat dog” in Poulsbo. That 17 year old Schnauzer has been with us for every one of our adventures and we so looked forward to his being part of the boat adventure. Kind boaters helped us to and from vets, when we were without transportation. To those new friends, Ken gave all that we could give from our heart for their kindness and support…a loaf of his bread.

This captain has already enjoyed waking up every day of our 10 days of Ranger Tug ownership to the lovely aroma of something lovingly baked on board.

When you see us on the docks or at a Rendezvous, stop by CAVU…Ken may have something fresh out of the oven to share with you"

Thank you all for joining in the fun, look out for the May contest soon to follow!

Brian, if you give us some heads up on the photo categories for the coming months I may be more proactive with taking some photos and not just enjoying the good times! 😀
