We have an R25OB with Garmin electronics, including autopilot. When I stored the boat for the winter I took out the spade fuses and reinstalled upon spring commissioning. I noticed in my owner manual there is no spade fuse listed for auto pilot Sade fuse diagram but a sticker is on the fuse panel that clearly states “auto pilot”. On our first trip out today auto pilot would not engage and a notice appeared on the Garmin gps screen “ecu not present”. Made me wonder so a placed a 7.5 amp spade fuse into the panel and the auto pilot worked. My question is this….does anyone know the proper spade fuse amp fuse to use?

My R23 fuse block diagram shows a 40 amp for the autopilot. So does the R27 manual. I have not seen a manual for the 25. The install instructions for the Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot call for the ECU to be installed only using their inline fuse direct to a battery but if wired to a fuse block, it must be protected with a 40 amp fuse. I find it a bit strange that a 7.5 a spade is protecting where Garmin recommends a 40 amp.
I hope others will comment here.

Just a few days ago I was looking at the fuse blocks on my new 2022 R27OB LE, and adding some more spare fuses in the spare slots. One of the fuse blocks behind the helm has a 40A fuse and the label indicates it is for the Auto Pilot. Page 24 of the R-27 manual (downloaded file rt-R27ownersManual-1220.pdf) has a schematic that shows a 40A fuse for "Auto Pilot Pump". That schematic just shows the 40A fuse going to a block named "Auto Pilot - see MFR schematic". I do not have this "MFR" schematic, so I do not know if this 40A fuse also powers the other parts of the autopilot system, of if they have separate fuses somewhere else.

If you’re talking about the fuse on the 24x7 panel, mine is a 40 amp fuse.
