Is the bilge pump always electrically powered even with all 4 rotary battery switches off.
I would assume so, that when it rains the bilge pump will automatically pump out the rainwater in bilge, but want to make sure.
Thank you

The bilge pumps have a fused power feed from the battery. On most tugs this is the thruster battery. Each bilge pump has its own fuse, typically 5A. It is connected before the battery switch so power is always available.

You should determine where these fuses are located, they can fail. In event of a stuck switch you may also need to pull the fuse to stop the pump to keep it from getting damaged by running dry.

On my R27 the bilge pump fuses are below the Thruster battery switch and are connected to the battery terminal on the switch.

On the Cutwaters and 29/31 rangers the auto float switches are on a fuse panel that is powered off of the thruster battery switch. This panel is always powered even if the switch is shut off. The float switches are labeled and run on a 5 amp blade fuse.
