Are there any direct to battery connections for the auto pilot? I am getting a message "searching for controller" on the helm control (GHC 20). On the 7612 screen it says autopilot not available. 40 AMP fuse is good both the inline one and the one on the fuse box. The status light is not lit on the controller located by the hot water heater.

The GHC 20 display backlight is not very bright but I need to try hitting power button twice to adjust.

Make sure you have power to your N2K back bone. I had the same issue with my auto pilot. Original factory install the backbone was powered by the Fusion radio. I'm not sure Fluid Motion does that any more. I added a yellow cord power supply to the back bone to power it and fused it from the panel behind helm in the head. I never never had an issue after adding the new power cord.

Hello Matty,

The easiest thing to do to verify N2K communication is to check it from the Garmin 7612. If you hit settings, communications, Nmea 2000 and then device list, you should see the reactor unit as well as the GUC 20 display listed. If they are, it might be a simple reset. You can unplug the wire from behind the display and reconnect to see if that helps or update the software to all components as that should be done frequently. When you are on the boat, call my cell and will walk you through some items. It’s not the same as what Brian describes so best you and I figure it out.

Thanks Matty,

Andrew
I had updated software as part of the troubleshooting. That did not work but good software is updated. Putting yours and Brians comments together i figured it had to be a power issue. Did not see reactor come up on screen as you suggested but saw everything else so overall power ok. Add to that i watched a youtube video to learn more about how NMEA 2000 works. Issue ended up being loose connection for reactor behind mirror in the head. All is good now.
Thanks for quick response. Now i am just a little more knowledgable.
