Curious if anyone is thinking about going to Lake Powell this Autumn, October. Or has anyone been dreaming, thinking about a trip to the Sea of Cortez with others this winter? Florida Keys?

Thanks for asking, headed to baja with the CUBAR rally in November...going to leave the tug in La Paz.

There is typically a good number of Ranger Tugs that head to Florida in the winter, many who migrate to the Keys. There is also a Rendezvous in early February where they have around 15 to 20 Ranger Tugs/Cutwaters in attendance that might be of interest for you. You can get info on the Rendezvous from Mike Rizzo.

I think the C-Dory owners group the C-Brats are getting together in September at Lake Powell about now I think. We usually trailer our boat down to the Florida Keys for the month of February. We usually spend time in Marathon and Key West. We can't find a place we like to put the boat in Key Largo. Last year there were so many refuges from the cold in February it seemed to be a little crowded. We decided this year to go to Key West for the last week of February and then go up to Marathon for the month of March. March can some times be windy. But the good news is that many tourists from the north start heading home March 1st. We stay at the Black Fin Marina in Marathon and the Garrison Bight City marina in Key West. Take bicycles for both places especially Key West. I put a class three hitch on the front of our truck and use a bicycle rack we already had to get the bicycles down there.
In October we will trailer to Norfolk Va. and do the Carolina loop. Which going down the inter coastal to the Albemarle Sound and over to the Pasquotank river and on to the Dismal Swamp Canal back to Norfolk. Hopefully the temps will have cooled a bit buy then.

You are right Dave, the C-Brats are meeting on Lake Powell - in Oak Canyon - the weekend of September 19. Always a good time if any Tugnuts would like to attend. More info can be found on the C-Brats webpage. Several boats are already puttering around the lake and many will stay through that week, and more. What an amazing destination! We will be headed there for the gathering, but first stop at Flaming Gorge this weekend to see it for the first time.

Hope you are enjoying your new cruising luxury Dave!

Rob,
We like the extra room and storage a lot. We are planning to head to the Northwest next summer for a month or so. My wife is a LOT happier. The bathroom/toilet/ shower for whatever reason she sees as major plus. Go figure! 😀 Just got back from the Trent Severn which we thought was amazing. I hope all is well on your end. Say hi to the folks at Lake Powell. You will surely like Flaming Gorge. Beautiful by boat.
