Ok all you Seattle Tugnuts we'd like your thoughts about a marina to stay, with direct access (Ballard side) to Ballard, for a day or so. We'd like to re-visit this area before heading to Bell Harbor for a couple of days.

Walking distance? Shilshole is close, if you don't mind a bit of a walk, else bus service is available....

Fisherman's Terminal might work for you. Use your dinghy to get over to the Ballard side from the Terminal. Even a short walk up to the Ballard bridge is within reach IMO and then over to Ballard.

The walk from Shilshole to Ballard is easy. You've got Ray's Boathouse (great spot for lunch or dinner) and the locks in between. You've got Golden Gardens to the north. And, you don't have to go through the locks twice (not a problem, just a consideration). If you choose to go through the locks, go to Fisherman's. It's a working marina which usually has space for transients, and they have an Anthony's and excellent fish monger right there.

You can walk back to the locks, check out the salmon ladder, cross over, and have 1/2 mile walk into town.
