After 4 months in the water in the South Puget Sound, the boat (R27OB) came out in good shape except for finding barnacles under the Yamaha where there is no bottom paint. Anyone have tips on how to clean the transom without damaging the gel coat or the bottom paint? Is there any bottom paint or preventative coating that can be used in the unprotected area without creating a problem with the outboard mount corroding? I have scraped the barnacles off the transom with a plastic scraper but I am reluctant to used an acid based cleaner for fear of damaging the bottom paint.
