My rocker switch keeps triggering. It lasts maybe 2 - 3 minutes before it clicks off. I have 30 amps of shore power coming in but whether I'm on shore power or generator, same thing happens.

My questions:
1) is it a bad switch or am I doing something wrong?
2) If a bad switch, how do I get the old one out?
3) Does Ranger stock a replacement?

Thanks in advance. Alan Townsley

Hey Alan,

You could have a bad breaker but you could also have a charger pulling too much which is causing the breaker to trip. You can order parts via parts@rangertugs.com. You could replace the breaker as it is cheaper then a new charger. Also I am not sure what year boat you have but if its the old ProMariner we used I have seen those fail more than the breaker. You may want to look through the manual for the charger and see if there is any trouble shooting they provide. Hope this helps!!

Thanks,

It's pretty simple to use a clamp on meter to test how many amps your battery charger is drawing. Also lot's easier than changing the breaker. If you don't have a meter they can be had for $30 or so at any big box building supply store.
