New question... how can I tell if the battery is charging on shore power? R29CB

We are currently docked and plugged into shore power, the MeTer display has a green “charge” light lit, and the display says battery 1 is 12.6 V and doesn’t appear to be going up. Battery 2 is at 12.8 V. We’ve been cruising all day and I expected the batteries would have been fully charged by now.

We did have an issue a couple weeks ago where the power at the dock had been switched off and the fridge ran the battery down to 10 or so V. Once we turned it on the battery charged back up, but I don’t know to what voltage.

The inverter is off, is there some other switch I should be looking at?

On shore power / power charger switch on. It should take care of the battery charging up to between 13 and 14 volts. That’s all I know about it. Ranger Tugs has excellent video on power management that is well worth watching.

I noticed same thing on my boat. The inverted switch was off. When I turned on the inverter switch, plugged into shore power, the batteries got fully charged. This is the dual switch in port locker with the other battery select dials.

In the power management presentation they said it is important to leave inverter off when plugged into shore power. Also if you run your battery too low the charger with think that is bad and will isolate and not charge the battery.

I watched the presentation yesterday, but some of the images aren’t the same switches that we have so I’m still trying to line up what we have with what they suggested

You could also reach out to Ranger Tug on Monday as they are extremely helpful to customers of their products.

I plan to reach out to RT this week, I took some notes and photos so that I can reference exactly what displays I’m questioning about 🙂
