Battery leads showing no voltage at solar controller

The battery leads going into my solar controller are showing no voltage (photo attached). Does anyone know what those are next in series with? Is it possible a fuse is blown somewhere?

My House battery voltage and conection itself seems fine, the selector is turned on, etc. Obvious things have so far not turned up anything and it's very hard to trace the wires, given the location in my Tug.

I first noticed this when I saw the House batteries didn't seem to be getting charged at all by the solar panels. I went to investigate, and the green light on the controller for the House batteries was off. The engine batteries are showing the correct voltage and the solar controller light is on.

Answered my own question. There's a fuse in-line, in these boxes as in the photo below. It was blown. #1 is the House and #2 is the Engine on this boat.

Glad you got it sorted! Did you connect / reconnect the charge controller to the battery leads recently? Good practice is to disconnect the panel(s) or at least cover them up with a dark towel when reconnecting as this can apparently cause the fuse to blow in some instances.

Sea wolf, a better strategy than a dark towel is to put a resettable breaker on the positive lead between the solar panel and the solar controller. Mine is just a few inches away from the solar controller and very easy to flip on or off. In the photo, mine GL OSO breaker is on the lower left corner.

Love that! Obviously the way to go. Dark towel would be the dummy solution in these cases. 😉

I've got a dead solar controller and I'm hoping it is a fuse. I can't find it based on your picture because my Cutwater C302 C looks very different. What is the location of the fuse for the solar controller?
