Has anyone out there replaced their original (mine is 2011 vintage) Bennett hydraulic trim tab system with the newer electric trim tab system? Option 2 would be to upgrade the existing hydraulic system with newer hydraulic cylinders with the sensors so the helm control can be updated with the newer control/indicator.

I have an automatic trim adjusting system (not sure of Manufacture). At the dock I use the switches to put the trim tabs in the flats position. when I get to point where I can speed up I note the bow position to the horizon, and then accelerate to about 2500 RPMs, the bow will have risen, and next step is to trim the bow down to the horizon with the two trim switches, then using the Auto Control push the two set buttons until the "blue" light comes on telling the system where Zero is. Then turn on the System and it will then automatically adjust the tabs for Speed, Roll, and Yaw. The reason need to reset each trip out is when I shut the boat down if I don't shut off the System, Trim Tabs as I move about on the boat are constantly correcting, and drawing power.

Forgot to mention I also have a Ranger Tug 27,, 2011 model

Thanks. Mine has no indicator light. I just adjust the tabs up or down by the "seat of the pants" feel. I use a count (one mississippi...) to extend them depending on boat speed and a 10 count to bring them back up when approaching the dock.

I upgraded to the Bennett Smart tab system last winter. It works pretty well, automatically changes the tab position based on speed, and retracts to all up when power is off. Also has led lights to indicate tab position.
