I want to take my C-248 down to Lake Washington to float around for a few days and anchor a few nights. I see there are a few anchorages: Andrews, Juanita, maybe Kenmore and St Edwards.

But what I really need some advice on is how to get there. Driving a long double axle trailer is new to me, and I don't think I can get this thing around in Seattle very well.

Is the best option to use a ramp in Lake Union or even someplace like Shilshole and then go through the locks? Is there a good ramp off 405?

Basically any advice on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’d do Gene Coulon in Renton. Just off 405. Lots of space, no city streets.

+1 for Gary's recommendation. I know it can be a bit far from you, but basically you get the 405 south all the way down until the Gene Coulon park. There are plenty of space to prepare the boat for launching, maneuvering the trailer, and 6 ramps (3 launch / 3 retrieve).

At Gene Coulon you also find few dock spaces and places to grab some snack/quick food.

For anchorages, imho Andrews Bay would be the best option for spending the night. Cozy cove became our favorite anchor spot during the day (afaik you can't sleep there). Quieter than Andrews Bay during the day.

While in the Lake, if time allows, have a drink at Dock and Drinks (close to Gene Coulon), visit the Gasworks Brewing (Lake Union, they have a small guest dock, and now that summer is over, it may be easier to find a spot), a ride in the Lake Union during the night to see the city from the lake. It is gorgeous.

Enjoy!
