My bilge pump trips the breaker on the main panel after running for about 10 seconds even with water in the Blige. If I turn the pump back on right away it trips immediately. If I wait a few minutes it will run again for about ten seconds before tripping. The blade fuse also blows when the bilge turns on. There appears to be no blockage as plenty of water is being discharged when the bilge is on. Any thoughts? Perhaps the pump is old and over heating. Thanks for any hints and advice.

I had something similar. You may have collected material around the impeller. Cleaning it up should help. I did just replace mine though as it was older and the time running with a clogged impeller likely wore it down.

Typically if the fuse is blowing and the switch is tripping the pump has some sort of additional resistance. You should be able to pull the pump from the mounting base to inspect/clean any debris around the pump.

Thanks, there was debris inside the pump housing and the hose also had a blockage. Appreciate the help.
