I'm wondering if anyone has actually replaced the bilge pump on this model or similar? Mine has quit and it looks like you have to remove (or move) the prop shaft in order to get the old one out and the new one in. Anyone have any experience with this?

I believe Saltwater Joy, Neff is the expert on bilge pump replacement on the R/21.

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can get in touch with Saltwater Joy.

I have a 2013 R21, Replaced mine 5 years ago, if I remember correctly there are clips that hold it in and can be slid up then around the drive shaft, was a 10 minute job, I do recall needing to trim down a tab on the side of the pump to get the new one to fit in the narrow opening.

Had a 2015, and I was able to get the pump out past everything. I replaced it with the same pump type, so I left the old base in place for the new one. My was a Johnson, I believe.

Thanks so much for the reply's. I ordered the same replacement pump as the one in the boat. I will give it a go when it gets here.

I did have to make a splice on ours...

I have a 2011. Replaced aft (OEM) bilge pump and switch recently. The Johnson pump that I bleev should be in there is a cartridge-type, withdraw pump and discard, replace with new one. On my model, there is adequate room to splice, etc. I had a lot of slack in the harnesses from the factory which made it easier. The stuff I replaced was OEM... pretty good record of reliability 2011 to 2025. I installed a second Johnson pump/Ultima switch forward of the engine... you lose the aft pump while there is some mischief going on you will ship a lot of water in the bilge before you feel it.

I put one forward of the engine as well! Great minds. I also moved the main pump from the starter battery to the house. I did this because I looked at one in Rock Hall Maryland. Someone had shut off the dock power, the starter battery was dead, and the water was ankle deep in the cockpit. I've seen more than one boat with pumps connected to the starter battery...
