*%$! Bilge pumps

r27 ob, aft bilge pump recently failed on manual and automatic operation. Checked fuse ok, ordered and installed new pump (27sa) identical to old unit. Wired same as existing pump and now automatic works on new pump but manual does not. Switch at dash illuminates when on but no pump action.

Any ideas?

You may want to make sure that the wire on the breaker is secure. There have been instances of a loose connection.

Not an answer to your question, but the 27SA has a 3-year warranty. I recently lost the automatic function on mine for the second time, sent an email to Xylem (the parent company of Rule) and received replacements for both the original that came in the boat and the first replacement (that I purchased) ...

Both the fore and aft bilge pumps werent working in their automatic/timer mode when we had the survey done and bought our boat at the end of last summer. We had the seller (via their agent) replace them with new units (Rule 27SA). Now, less than a year later, both have lost their automatic function again (still work with manual switch), so I think I am going to try this approach as well.
