The original equipment bimini on my R-27 is in its 6th year and is worse for the wear. Rather than repair, as it is faded, I'd like to buy a new one....not the frame, just the fabric. Anyone know if RT stocks this item or another supplier that has the pattern? Thanks.

We just purchased a R-27 from Winter Island Yacht Yard in Salem, Massachusets - they have their preferred local canvas guy who makes biminis, aft enclosures, etc., and believe his work to be very high quality. So we ordered from them. I believe ours turned out to be more expensive than the Ranger bimini, but we trust their judgment. We also have friends who own a R-21 in Meredith, NH, who ordered their aft enclosure from a local canvas shop, and they are very happy. I would recommend that you contact a local canvas shop and see what they have to say then decide if you want to use them or order from Ranger. At the very least, you would save on shipping.

Ranger Tugs gets their canvas from King Marine in Seattle. They also made a custom boat cover for YOLO. Money well spent over shrink wrapping.

The stitching on my bimini top started to disintegrate after 5 seasons of exposure to the sun. A local canvas shop (The Canvas Lady in Warwick, RI) completely restitched it for less than $150. Although a little faded it is as good as new. She said I should be able to get another 5 years or so before replacing it.
I also clean it yearly with detergent/diluted bleach and every few years treat it with 303 Fabric Guard which restores the water proof properties. This treatment is recommended by Sunbrella.

King Marine Canvas in Seattle has the patterns and will ship you one at very reasonable cost. I communicated with them recently on this topic and that's likely the route I'll take after this season. But if you want one to fit perfect and be drum tight, you'll need to have it done by a local canvas shop who will fit it on the boat. Canvas work done on the boat by a competent shop is a work of art. Nothing against King and I plan to buy from them. But there's no substitute for a custom fit.
