Anyone planning on going to B.I. for the 4th? Weather is looking good so far. Fireworks are on 7/3, parade and steak fry on 7/4. http://www.blockislandchamber.com/calendar/
We will arrive on 7/1 or 7/2 and anchor in New Harbor, I want to get there early as I'm sure the harbor will be crowded with boats.

We'll be in Mystic Brian.

The Pugs Tug is planning a trip to Block, but not until August. It will be my first trip thru the Shinnecock Canal. I always had a sail boat, the railroad bridge was the problem. There is only 25' clearance, my mast was 55' off the water. Now, I'm 16', or something like that. Can't wait! With a sail boat, a trip to Block took 2 days. We would go outside from the Fire Island Inlet to the Shinnicock Inlet the first day (8 hours), then outside again from Shinnicock to Block the second day, (8 -10 hours). Now it's inside all the way from my slip to the canal in 5 or 6 hours. Thru the canal and into the Peconic. Then we either rest somewhere or just go to Block, maybe 3 or 4 hours. Traveling at 12 knots is way different from 5 - 6 knots!
