On my Garmin XVS chartplotter screen the boat icon is 90 degrees off relative to the actual heading. Anyone know how to correct this? It's very aggrevating when trying to line up to a bouy or to set the autopilot.

I believe if you select Charts, Menu, Chart Set-up, Chart Appearance, you will see the choices available to you (ie: heading up, north up etc.) Hope this helps! Bob

You may also need to run the Sea Trial Wizard to recalibrate the autopilot CCU. There are several posts describing this procedure, which can correct for problems when the boat icon is not aligned with the heading.

Before I ever learned about the Wizard I had the same problem. (I had done some maintenance that involved removing the CCU bracket and reinstalling it. To achieve the re-alignment, I just used trial and error rotating the ball a little bit at a time until the compass and GPS image and autopilot all agreed.

It is also possible that you may have some large (magnetic) metal stuff, like a toolbox, sitting near the CCU.
