Boaterhoming

Jim,

Did you ever overnight at a WalMart, truck stop or rest area ?

We have stayed at a Walmart a couple of times, a Cracker Barrel once and an approved rest area once, other then that when we’ve boaterhomed it’s been an RV park/campground. Also a casino a few times. The advantage is the non RV places are free but no conveniences of on-site showers, bathrooms or electricity.

How do you get the hose to stay in the side of the boat to offload grey or eventually pump out black?
I just boaterhomed from Florida to New Mexico, 2200 miles.
Once at highway rest stop (nice!) and Walmart twice (carful taking a big boat C30 into town).
Flush the toilet with show head fresh water.
Solar keeps stuff charged and fridge up and running.
Only thing I have to deal with is grey which would be nice to be able to have a hose attach to the side of the boat.

For gray water which we used everyday for cooking and showering, etc. The hoses stayed in and haven't leaked. Inside the ports on the side of the boat there is a ridge where the diameter is reduced, I just pressed the hoses in until they hit the ridge and they stayed. The type of hose I used kind of sticks to the port opening because it is kind of soft.

For the black water, we used the hose I mentioned, several (five I think) times and I just jammed it in tight. Twice I did it by myself with fingers crossed. The other times I held it in securely so no promises on how it will work for anyone else. So...your mileage may vary.

Yeah the dish washer drain hose from Lowes stays in black water, depending how public it is, I sometimes hold it with gloves and the 1st mate pushes the masarator switch. Hey Las Cruces Ruby P R31S is in Deltaville Va, we are going out to Chesapeake on May 15th I think, vaccinated already and then bring her back to Albuquerque NM in first week of July. Boaterhoming all the way back 🙂
