What is the bonding system, if there is one, on the Ranger 21 EC...vintage 2010. I recently had my prop zinc deteriorate very quickly (6 months on buoy with no shore power or other nearby boats).

The shaft zinc disappeared completely but the rudder and strut zincs are like new. I bought the boat from someone who had in fresh water and I moved it to salt water. At that time zincs where near 100%. The seller had no idea what type of anode they had installed (fresh water vs salt water anode materials).

Thank you,
Harley

Yes your boat has a bonding system it's the green wire attached to the hull fittings, rudder and all metal parts exposed to sea water. The weak link is the propeller and shaft that is bonded to the engine via the transmission that sometimes blocks the bonding due to oil. As noted by saltwater jack in a prior post these grounding/bonding wires should be checked and repaired as needed. Bob

Thank you again Bob. I will check all the bonding . My current best guess is that the boat had non-zinc anodes. Would testing at any bonding point with a multi meter give a good analysis or does each bonding point need testing?
