I have a 2018 R23 with a Lewmar bow thruster. Where the tunnel meets the hull, there is considerable wear occurring that is down to the point that I can just begin to see the fibers. Has anyone else had this? If so, any recommended repairs? Thanks to all for your help, I would post a photo but can't figure out how to do that.

Jack,

I don't think it is possible to post a photo in a message. You can go to your "UCP" and click the radio button to create an Album to post photos. I think it is under your Profile tab. Not sure, but it is somewhere in there.

Hello Jack,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ve not seen unusual wear on thruster tunnels before which doesn’t say something couldn’t be up with the gear leg placement. Usually, if there was a problem with the gear leg, you would hear grinding from the propeller as it hits the inside of the tunnel. When we prep these boats for delivery, we have our owners select whether or not they need bottom paint which could be applied too thick but I wouldn’t expect fibers in the glass to expose themselves. These tubes are pre manufactured and we glass them to the inside of the hull. Please call customer service when you get time so we can help provide some guidance and get some pictures emailed directly to us so we can see what’s happening. (253)839-5213.

Thank you,
