I have a 2012 29' w/ a Float on trailer. Have had the typical problems w/ the boat slinging back while loading it on the trailer. I now move the front roller frame forward (by loosening the ubolts) Load the boat & then relocate the frame.
My question is do you guys have the strap go under or over the roller on the trailer. The boat bow eye sits a little lower than the roller & I have had it under the roller. Wondering if it would help if it was over the roller?

We have a R27 and I do the same thing you do. After the boat comes off the Float-on trailer I move the winch stand forward and tighten down the front U bolt only. After loading the boat back on and moving clear of the ramp I move the winch stand back so the roller is resting on the boat then I crank down the strap before I tighten down the rest of the bolts. We also have a chain and if I’m going any distance I also use a racket strap so the bow won’t bounce. Our strap is under the roller. I do it this way because I’m not a fan of using the Ranger Tug bump method, I think hitting the brakes to move the boat forward on the trailer is dangerous and puts added stress on the whole rig. I know some have that system down pat but I’m not confident I could do it successfully without breaking something and I always have enough stuff to fix!

Roller should be above the bow eye. I too adjust the winch stand FWD approx. 3 inches when loading the boat on the trailer. Once the boat is loaded and on level ground I slide the stand back and snug the winch strap ( loose snug). I installed a U- bolt to the trailer frame that I attach one end of a ratchet strap to and the other end to the bow eye. I snug this down , along with two straps from trailer to stern eyes. Boat and trailer seem to ride together with very little movement.

I've got a 31 with the same issue. After loading it, I just stop 2-3 times during the first mile and tighten each time. Better was recently I parked on a slight include and cinched her down. I, too, would not do the bump thing. Too much weight to be messing around like that.

Or at least the tanned wench cranking the winch.
