Trying to by pass the water heater on my 2014 C 30 to prevent me from filling the water heater with anti freeze to winterize. Last year I had to put about 10 gallons of pink stuff in before it made it into the fresh water tank. I know how to do it by combining the hot and water hoses but I cant get to them. Anyone done this? Is there another way to do this?

Hi everyone. I am posting this again in hopes of getting some guidance. Has any TugNutter successfully bypassed the water heater?

I have not by-passed water lines from the water heater on a C30. As you said it is as simple as removing the incoming cold and out going hot water lines and plumbing them together. Open the tank drain and the the water will drain from the tank and your tank is winterized. You must have a open vent for all the water to drain from the tank. This was accomplished when you removed the out going hot water line. The water heater water lines should be accessible, possibly by removing a bulkhead panel. I have found that removing a few panels in the area that equipment is installed in the Cutwaters makes equipment accessibility much easier. The by-pass hose can be made from a short piece of hose and two 90 degree fittings matching the hot water tank style fitting. Plumb the assembly to the water lines removed from the heater. You can now winterize all the water lines in the boat without filling the water heater with anti-freeze.

Thanks Brian. I’ll look at it again. The hot water tank is on the port side under the refrigerator. Lots of stuff in front of it but maybe I remove the refer

I have done this by cutting the pex and using shark bite couplings to join the two lines. Then in the spring use the same couplings to reconnect to the water heater. Like everything on the boat you need to be a bit of a contortionist but at least you don't need to reach all the way to the hot water heater.

Thanks Phil. are the pex fittings near the fresh water tank?
