C 28 Engine hatch not closing.

Seems other owners have had issues opening their engine hatches and from what I’ve read, because the reservoir provides for both the trim tabs and the hatch ram, it’s necessary to have the trim tabs fully retracted. I get that, but my problem is closing the hatch rather than opening. It opens fine, but will not close. The last time this occurred, I tried manually pushing the hatch closed while holding the switch in the close position. No luck closing the hatch so I ended up disconnecting the ram while fully extended. It’s been that way for the last 6 months, but I’ve grown tired of lifting the hatch open by hand. What’s going on here with the ram? The resovoir is full, btw? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

See my post on this issue. Called hatch won't close. Mines a 2013 R29 but I think it's similar. Runs off the trim tab pump. It has an extra solenoid for the hatch cylinder and runs in conjunction with the starboard tab. It seems the solenoid is sensitive to battery voltage and if it's a bit low it won't operate and open the valve allowing fluid to return to the reservoir. Have you tried to operate it with the engine running so the alternator tops the voltage up.
