Noticed today that the AutoPilot gauge for my 7612 will turn ON for just a moment after pushing the button, but then will turn back OFF. Can't get it to stay ON.

The main GPS screen works fine as does the AutoPilot (from the "Engage" button on the main GPS screen).

This is the smaller screen under the Volvo screen that provides the Heading.

Any ideas?

PS: I'll throw this Garmin tid-bit in for anyone not already knowing this. (Not related to the above issue, just a care & feeding info).

I could never get the main Garmin screen to read the engine data on that side-bar part of the main screen. But I read here that you need to turn the Garmin system ON and let it cycle up before turning your engine ON. If you do that all the engine data will appear on the main screen. Never knew that until I read about it in one of the threads here...

Sounds like the screen is dimmed to its lowest setting. A quick tap should bring up the brightness setting menu. Hope it’s that easy!

NOTE TO BOB (ME!):

"Bob, read the instruction manuals for your boat. I know that their are "80 of them" but plow through and see what you will learn".

-Thanks Ray for the dimming button comment. Read the manual and yes, push the ON button once and it turns ON. After the Garmin name goes, in my case, turned black screen, just push the ON button twice and the Brightness page comes on. Adjust accordingly.

The screen is now nice and bright...Thanks...Bob/Bradenton
