C24- Hangs to the left

I am a new owner of a c24 and just love the boat so far, with the exception of a couple nuisances. One of them is that the boat, and every other one I have seen in the marina, seems to lean to port. Underway, it’s totally fixable using the trim tabs but in the harbor, when sleeping on the boat, it’s painful . I am thinking about having all of the battery systems moved to the starboard side. Wondering why this leaning? Is there some other way to balance the boat? I have full tanks... and as much gear as I can to starboard.

Yep, Welcome to the left leaning boat factory! Seems they think the Captain has to weigh 450 pounds, everything heave is designed for the Port Side, batteries and Generator

With all the equipment installed in Tugs and Cuts its hard to get the boat to not list. For some reason most Rangers and Cutwaters list to the port. After installing and adding more equipment to our C26 the list got worse. We installed a RIB and Motor, a grill, a few extra pots and pans,...... it seemed like everything fit better on the port. Now it really list. I moved the batteries to the starboard side. Now the boat floats level. Launch the RIB, hang the motor on the Rib reduced weight on port side. Now the boat has a slight list to the Starboard. My first suggestion is adjust your loose equipment Cooler,tools, supplies and gear. If that doesn't work unhook a battery and move it to starboard side for a test. Floats level , move a battery.

Hello Acadwell,

As a Ranger Tug owner, I realized that mine also leaned to the port. Now, I have a kicker motor and it doesn't take much to lean them one way or the other with weight. The main reason we prefer a slight lean to the left on the Ranger 23 and C24 is because all of the storage and refrigeration is on the starboard side. On the other models, they should all be very close to level now. The C24 has more deadrise than the 23 so a tiny bit of weight can make it go to either side. Once you load of the refrigerator and the galley storage, you should be nice and leveled out. On mine, I also added a car top carrier and mounted it to the starboard side. I carry my downriggers, rods and all of my fishing tackle and it works like a dream. Now, I lean to the starboard side but works ok when I have passengers.

I have a C24. I moved the house batteries to starboard and added one for a total of 3. It sits perfectly level now.

OK- Update... I moved all of my batteries to the starboard side and now it is perfectly level with 2 in the boat- and handles much better underway. NOTE: I have Yamaha 9.9 Kicker on port side so this keeps things in balance- or you probably wouldnt want to move everything. With 4 of us in the boat we still get a slight port side leaning underway, but its WAY better. The only complaint now is that the berth moves more when one person moves while sleeping since we are perfectly balanced- but thats a nit. I dont understand why CW doesnt do this from the factory- but was told that the dealer typically installs all of the options so they leave the factory balanced out- dont know if this is true. Duane at North Harbor Diesel in Anacortes is now an expert on this process if anyone needs a place to have it done. He did it correctly, and installed fuse banks and also fixed some incorrectly installed fuel lines at the same time.
