I own the c-28 2014 cutwater. It has the exterior blue 'mood' lighting. However, I've noticed that there are several exterior lights that do not come on. I'm wondering if they are just out or if they belong to something else. There are 2 lights each side of the swim step lower on the transom (4 total) and one light exterior amid ship each side that do not come on. They appear to be the same as the blue lights that do come on but I find it odd that all would be burned out so symmetrically? Thoughts? And if they are just burned out, has anyone ever replaced them? Is it easy?

I think that what you are describing are brake lights and backup lights that illuminate if you are trailering and are connected correctly. I've never trailered our C-28, but I read this in the owner's manual.

I'm guessing the "amidship" lights are the pseudo-air-intakes I asked about a while back. Plastic grids, "triangular with a bulging hypotenuse" at deck level aft of center cleat. Apparently they are a nonfunctional design element, intended to resemble air intakes.

Hi JonR,

The lights you're describing are indeed powered by the trailering harness, as Headlee mentioned. They are powered by the harness that is inside your anchor locker on the port side. You'll see a cable with a four-prong plug that you can use to operate these lights when the boat is on a trailer. That harness will simply need to be plugged into the old style trailer plug. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Ralf
