Has anyone had moisture entering somewhere inside and above the teak overhang in the cockpit on their C28? When we bought the boat we replaced the two teak panels because of existing moisture damage and believed we had the problem fixed by removing the hand winch and filling the four holes where it was bolted in. Things were good for about a year and a half and now the moisture is back and not from those four bolt holes. I lowered one of the panels and could see some daylight forward from the point where the cabling goes through and up to the radar, GPS, and antenna. I used an ample amount of gorilla tape to seal off that entry point, but moisture is still getting in somewhere. The teak looks nice, but maybe it is not the best design. Thanks for any input you may have.

This is a pretty common issue on several of the Cutwater and Ranger Tug models. In our former R-25 Classic the teak had been removed, the surface smoothed with a mix or expxy resin and microballons and then painted gloss white.
Others have removed the teak and put in a thin sheet of Starboard as a replacement.
On our 2017 C-28 the teak still looks pretty nice. When it doesn’t look so nice I’ll probably go the Starboard route.

Thanks for the input. The King Starboard seems like a good plan. I’ll probably add a couple of vents and drain holes to it.
