Can someone tell me where it’s mounted? My autopilot is all outta whack- 99% positive it’s the subwoofer I just had installed - just wanna verify before I crawl in and uninstall.

bump. Anyone? 🙂

Remedy2,

I do not have a C288 so I cannot answer your question regarding the location of the autopilot CCU. I do have a couple thoughts that may help.

- We have E bikes that we store in the “cave” of our R27 Classic near the Auto Pilot CCU. They definitely screw up the compass. You can correct for this if the offending metal and magnets are in a fixed location. To do so run the Sea Trial wizard from the Autopilot panel. In some versions you need to be in “Dealer Mode” to do this. based on your version of Auto Pilot you should be able to look up how to get to the Sea Trial Wizard. Once you run the Sea Trial Wizard out in flat water with plenty of room it may be able to correct for the subwoofer install. Since the subwoofer is in a fixed location I would think the chances are good. With our e-bikes, not so much as they are not always on the boat. I had to move the CCU.

- It should be fairly easy to find your CCU if the Sub Woofer is the problem. Just look for an electronic device with cables connected near the sub woofer. Based on my experience anything more than a couple feet away would not likely be the source of the problem. You, or a nice buddy, will need to get back near the back of the subwoofer to look for the CCU nearby. Before crawling into tight spaces I would try the Sea Trial wizard mentioned above.

If you confirm the sub-woofer is the problem, and the Sea Trial Wizard cannot effectively compensate, then if you can move the CCU to be at least two feet away from the Subwoofer it may make enough of a difference for the Sea Trial Wizard to resolve it.

I hope this helps,

Curt

on the 28 its in the cave berth up on the bulk head forward near the helm controls. not sure if they moved it on the 288.

Thank you both. Pretty much confirms that a 15" magnet from the sub is butted against it LOL. Heading out to her on Thursday and will remove the sub, run the wizard again, and then see if I can find a suitable spot. Funny, I had the same system put on my old 2020 C24, with the sub in the same place, and never had any issues.
